Actions / Performance

Within the action/performance art group, the discussions touched on issues of identity, gender, sexuality and the construction of personal identity within a society so traditional and repressive as ours here in Mexico. We worked together on a series of actions, starting from drawing, photography, the reading of contemporary short stories and discussion. These actions allowed for the participants to reflect, in a playful, creative and spontaneous manner, on personal relations and the violence that is generated when we see the other as an "object."

This proposal was based in the construction of a vertical and affective relation that generates in the participants feelings of trust and self-reliance. One of the objectives of our actions is to ask ourselves how we have been educated and constructed as social subjects by our institutions, such as the family, the church, school, work, etc. By means of the project of group actions, we turn the members of other groups of "La Lleca" into participants in these works of action.
